SPECIAL RULES
  1. The Panhandle South Plains Fair is a member of the American Rabbit Breeders Association, Inc. and this is a sanctioned show. Prizes will be awarded in accordance with the A.R.B.A. Standard of Perfection. Official A.R.B.A. Sanctioned Show, Brad Boyce, Executive Director, P.O. Box 5667, Bloomington, Illinois 61702.
  2. Entries must be postmarked by midnight Thursday, September 2, 2010. Send entry blank with fees to Mrs. Rosalie Berry, 513 E. Kent, Lubbock, Texas 79403. Please make checks payable to South Plains Rabbit Breeders Association.
  3. IMPORTANT: Entries will be received at the Rabbit & Poultry Building through the Broadway gate only at the following times: Tuesday, Sept. 28 — 2 p.m. till 9 p.m. and Wednesday, Sept. 29 — 8 a.m. till 11:00 p.m. All rabbits must be in the building by Wednesday, September 29th. The building will be closed at Midnight.
  4. Judging will start at 9:00 a.m., Thursday, September 30. No late entries will be accepted.
  5. Entry fees are $1.00 for a single rabbit, meat pen, and fur classes.
  6. Competition is open to the world.
  7. Each animal must be permanently ear marked. Marks must be listed on entry blanks.
  8. Exhibits will be fed, watered, and cared for by SPRBA, but this Association will not be responsible for any loss or damage that may occur.
  9. Substitutes will be permitted when they are the same breed, sex, class, and variety.
  10. No person will be permitted to handle exhibits during judging without permission of show officials. Any person interfering with the judging will have his exhibit disqualified.
  11. No cash will be paid except on the standard breeds of the A.R.B.A. Ribbons will be awarded to 5th place if requested. In lieu of ribbons, 5 cents will be given for each ribbon earned.
  12. Animals showing symptoms of disease of any kind will not be allowed admittance to the show room.
  13. The decision of the judge will be final.
  14. The show officials reserve the right to refuse entry to exhibitors whose conduct, in their opinion, makes it undesirable for the welfare of the show that their stock be barred from competition.
  15. Exhibits may be removed at 9:00 p.m. Saturday, October 2nd, but under no circumstances until checked out by the Superintendent. Exhibits from more than 75 miles may be released at 3:00 p.m. in an orderly manner prescribed by the Superintendent. Please pick up remark cards, ribbons, etc., before checking out.
  16. In display all winnings to count at 6 points for first, 4 points for second, 3 points for third, 2 points for fourth, and 1 point for fifth.
  17. On all breeds not sweepstaked with 6 or more entries: BOB — $6.00; BOS — $4.00.
  18. ALL RABBITS IN THE RABBIT BARN MUST BE ENTERED IN THE SHOW INCLUDING ALL SALE RABBITS. ALL RABBITS MUST BE CHECKED OUT BY THE SHOW SUPERINTENDENT OR PREMIUMS WILL BE FORFEITED.
  19. IF AN ANIMAL DIES WHEN IN THE SHOW, THE SUPERINTENDENT WILL DISPOSE OF SAME AND NOTIFY EXHIBITORS WHEN THEY FIRST MEET.

RABBIT PREMIUMS
    Prizes paid on the following classifications:

    For breeds maturing at 8 pounds and over:
    Pre-junior — under 3 months and under 6 pounds.
    Junior Class — under 6 months.
    Intermediate Class — 6 to 8 months.
    Senior Class — over 8 months.

    For breeds maturing at less than 8 pounds:
    Juniors — under 6 months.
    Seniors — over 6 months.
    Meat Pen — three rabbits, under 69 days old, and not weighing more than 5 pounds.
    Meat pen will pay $3.00, $2.00, $1.00.
    Fur classes will be provided for normal white, normal colored, white satin and colored satin, white rex, colored rex, and breed fur.

    Regular premiums will be paid on the above classes according to number of entries in each class as follows:

    Trophies are given to winners.

    Application must be made with the chairman by 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 3rd.

    Contest will consist of placement of rabbits and written examination. The decision of the judge will be final.

    Seniors will be required to give reasons on the placements. Juniors and seniors will be judged on how they handle the animals. No adults will be permitted to discuss the contest with contestants while the contest is in progress. Contestants will be disqualified if an adult discusses the contest.


DR. ROBERT BERRY MEMORIAL BUCKLE

As of 2008, the South Plains RBA has sponsored the Dr. Robert Berry Memorial Buckle being awarded to the youth(s) earning the most points at the South Plains Fair. Joint entries will be counted as one entry. The club will award a Championship buckle to first place. Three years must pass before this individual can win the Memorial Buckle again. Ribbons will also be awrded for 2nd and 3rd places. A minimum of 10 display points and 2 rabbits must be entered to receive any of these awards.
To be eligible for these special awards, youth(s) must be actively enrolled in a $H Club or FFA Chapter. They will need to submit a letter from either their County Extension Agent, $H Club Manager, or FFA Leader stating they are enrolled and do own the rabbits. This letter must be attached to their fair entry. The awards will be presented on Saturday following the youth judging competition.

As of 2008, a Rabbit Costume Contest has been added. Application must be made with the chairman by 10AM, Saturday, October 3rd. The decision of the judge(s) will be final. Division will be 9-11, 12-14, and 15-18. Awards will be given.




2010 Mega Pass

Mega Pass is Back

The Mega Pass will be $60 again this year. Sales begin Monday, August 3rd at 3PM! They will be available for purchase at the Fair Park Coliseum before Labor Day Monday - Friday 3PM - 6PM. After Labor Day the times will be Monday-Friday 12 Noon - 6PM and Saturdays 10AM - 4PM.

The last day to purchase a Mega Pass will be Saturday, September 19th from 10AM - 6PM. They will not be available after that day!

The Mega Pass is a pay-one-price picture ID that is good for a wristband for unlimited rides each day of the carnival operation: September 24th - October 3rd.

**Pony rides and other specialty rides may be exempted.**
